It’s all about style

It’s all about Chris Bachalo!

I just picked up Dark Avengers Annual # 1, and Bachalo’s work was outstanding! That’s why I did a little research and decided to give a blog post for the cool artist. Here we go!

Bachalo is known for his quirky art style, which I like and emulate most of the times (i fail most of the times though :p). One of his earliest break was a pencilling gig for Neil Gaiman’s character Death. His style immortalized the Dream King’s sister.

Bachalo then transferred to Marvel comics and teamed up with Scott Lobdell. The two created Generation X. Their goal was to come up with an unusual group where there are no easily recognizable character archetype. The project worked well and Generation X gave the ‘team’ books a much needed shot in the arm.

After Generation X, came Steam Punk with Joe Kelly. It was a sic-fi book of sorts that took place during the steam technology revolution. It was during this run that Bachalo both fascinated and alienated some readers with his highly detailed yet quirky panels.

After the short-lived Steam Punk series, he returned to Marvel to work on Age of Apocalypse and more X-titles.

And here’s to hoping that he gets more Marvel gigs. 🙂

He’d fit perfectly into the new Heroic Age!

Here are more artworks from Bachalo:

*Thanks to Wikipedia and Chris Bachalo’s site for the pics! 😀
